Standen House is an Arts and Crafts National Trust property and once the home of the Beale family.  Helen, the last of the family, handed it over to the Trust in 1972.    It was designed by Philip Webb and furnished throughout by Morris and Co’s fabrics and wallpapers.

On this day, Sussex Contemporary exhibitors will be on Goose Green showcasing core making skills and heritage crafts including demonstrations and talks.  So, you will not only be able to visit the house and gardens, but also this interesting event.

There are the usual café facilities for coffee and lunch or you could bring your own picnic and walk in the extensive grounds should you wish to do so. 

Accessibility:  From the car park there is a 180m sloping gravel path to the house.  The hillside garden does have various slopes and steps and may be inaccessible in places if you have mobility problems. The ground floor of the house is accessible with ramps but has stairs with more than 20 steps to the upper floor. There is level access to the café, shop and the formal gardens.

Coach will leave Stocklund Square at 9.45 am. --- 4.00pm to return to Cranleigh.
