What to do on a December day? Why not join us on a visit West Horsley Place, with the house dressed for Christmas, and enjoy a tour which includes a mince pie and mulled wine.
West Horsley Place is a Grade I listed medieval manor house and 380-acre estate located in Surrey, famous as the filming location for the BBC comedy series Ghost.
A building has existed on the site since Saxon times, with the core of the current timber-framed manor house dating back to 1425.
Henry VIII owned the estate and gifted it to his cousin Henry Courtenay, who later hosted the king there. Its red-brick facade and classic features were added later to conceal the older timber structure. The estate was famously inherited in 2014 by the late TV presenter and author Bamber Gascoigne, who established the West Horsley Place Trust to fund its restoration.
